Power Generation Engines

Our Applications.

Volvo Penta’s industrial continuous, prime and standby power generation engines are used across a wide range of sectors, that span:

  • Mining and Quarrying
  • Construction and Infrastructure
  • Agriculture and Forestry
  • Water Pumps and Irrigation
  • Disaster Recovery and Emergency
  • Manufacturing and Process Plants
  • Data Centres and Events

Emissions Technology

Volvo Penta engines meet global emissions standards including Stage II / Tier 2 and higher. In layman’s, this means built-in flexibility with technologies like SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) for cleaner combustion and reliable performance.

Together with Volvo Penta, Oceania Power helps partners meet regulatory requirements while maintaining maximum power and operational efficiency. Whether you’re working toward Tier 4 Final or Stage V compliance, we’ve got a solution to support your goals.

Renewable Fuel Compatibility

Volvo Penta’s power generation engines are compatible with HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) with no additional type approvals required.

Volvo Penta also offers a D8 dual-fuel engine that can operate on both traditional diesel and hydrogen, giving operators flexibility while supporting decarbonisation strategies and renewable energy targets.

Power Ratings Explained

Standby Power

Used for backup power in case of grid failure. Designed to handle variable loads when utility power goes offline.

Prime Power

For sites without stable grid power, prime power is suited to continuous, variable loads (up to 70% average load) with a 10% overload capacity.

Continuous Power

Ideal for supplying a constant electrical load around the clock, with no time limitations.

Data Center Power

Designed to handle constant or variable loads 24/7 in data centre applications, where uptime is critical.

Services and solutions

Volvo Penta provides high-quality industrial engine services and solutions. Whether you require an industrial engine compliant with your country’s emissions regulations, warranty options, or a spare part delivered promptly, Volvo Penta and our network of dealers are here to assist you.

Biofuels – HVO Engines

Volvo Penta approves the use of hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO), neat or blended with conventional diesel, in all of its engines globally, enabling a reduction of fossil CO2 emissions by up to 90%. Volvo Penta engines do not need any type approval or specific certification for HVO usage.

HVO is a paraffinic renewable fuel, also known as “synthetic diesel”, which can be produced from a variety of vegetable and animal sources. It follows the CEN standard, EN15940, for use in diesel engines.

Become world leader in sustainable power solutions

Environmental care is one of Volvo Penta’s core values, and we work continuously with emission technology to develop sustainable solutions with low environmental impact.
