Volvo Penta’s D16 IMO III engine delivers powerful performance from a 16-liter marine engine, meeting the requirements of the latest IMO Tier III emission regulations. The D16 MH/MG IMO Tier III marine engine package is designed to sustain high backpressure while delivering strong power, efficiency, and reduced fuel consumption. SCR technology offers a quiet, compact exhaust aftertreatment system that’s designed installation flexibility.

Volvo Penta D16 MG is an in-line 6-cylinder, 16.1-liter direct-injected marine diesel auxiliary engine with twin-entry turbo and aftercooler. EMS optimises unit injectors and delivers reduced fuel consumption and emissions while the twin entry turbo with pulse charging delivers efficient speed control enhancing load taking capability.
The Marine Commercial Control (MCC) system from Volvo Penta is a state-of-the-art engine control and monitoring solution designed for marine genset and propulsion engine applications. Designed to meet the rigorous demands of the marine commercial market MCC is suitable for both electronic and mechanical engines and can be effortlessly incorporated into the ship’s control system.
The MCC system is available for propeller engine applications or all-speed gensets based on D8, D9, D12, D13 and D16 and has been integrated in new build and repower applications by Oceania Power.
Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) is Volvo Penta’s advanced user interface. It seamlessly integrates the engine, drives, controls, and accessories into a single, intelligent helm-to-prop focused platform, with Heavy Duty controls available ensuring piece of mind in the toughest of conditions.
