Featuring the in-line 6-cylinder D8, a 7.7-liter, common-rail diesel with a twin-entry turbo and supercharger for enhanced low rpm, marine specific responsiveness. The D8 Range is available ifrom 450 hp to 800 hp for both Commercial and Leisure applications. Working together with an optimized IPS15 pod or Inboard gearbox, and utilizing the Electronic Vessel Control system, this package delivers you Volvo Penta’s unique marine torque with fuel-efficient performance, reduced emissions and extended service life.

Featuring the in-line 6-cylinder D8, a 7.7-liter, common-rail diesel with a twin-entry turbo and supercharger for enhanced low rpm, marine specific responsiveness. The D8-IPS is available in 600, 650, and 700 versions for Commercial applications, and 700 and 800 versions for leisure. Working together with an optimized IPS15 pod, twin counter-rotating propellers, and the Electronic Vessel Control system, this package provides you with enhanced maneuverability, extended action range, and reduced emissions.

Volvo Penta D8 IMO III is an in-line 6-cylinder, 7.7-liter diesel engine featuring a high-pressure unit injector system, overhead camshaft, and a ywin-entry turbo with pulse charging to ensure operating performance. This design contributes to improved fuel efficiency, optimized operating economy, and reduced emissions. The SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) exhaust aftertreatment system is designed for an optimal fit. The SCR unit, which also functions as a silencer, reduces noise by 35-40 dBA.

Marine Commercial Controls (MCC)

The Marine Commercial Control (MCC) system from Volvo Penta is a state-of-the-art engine control and monitoring solution designed for marine genset and propulsion engine applications. Designed to meet the rigorous demands of the marine commercial market MCC is suitable for both electronic and mechanical engines and can be effortlessly incorporated into the ship’s control system.

The MCC system is available for propeller engine applications or all-speed gensets based on D8, D9, D12, D13 and D16 and has been integrated in new build and repower applications by Oceania Power.
